AMAZING SHOW
WIDT's 32nd production of THE NUTCRACKER was a great success. Thank you to all who helped make this year's performance better than the last. With a very special thank you to Derek Hoshiko, Phil Jones, Mary Ellen O’Connor and Alex Cattand who stepped up to make the castle set piece safer, stronger, and especially the most beautiful it has ever been. It made the transition between the Living Room and Snow scenes even more seamless and magical for audience members.

2024-25 COMPANY DANCERS
WIDT: More than Meets the Eye
WIDT is not just a high-quality pre-professional dance company; it is a transformative experience that shapes talented, hardworking dancers into world-ready adults.
At WIDT, we empower our dancers through rigorous training, rehearsals, and performances that instill essential life skills. Our program teaches perseverance, dedication, self-discipline, and confidence, while also enhancing time management, memorization, creativity, musicality, teamwork, physical fitness, mental wellness, leadership, and networking skills. Alongside these invaluable lessons, our dancers forge lasting friendships that enrich their life's journey.
Balancing full-time schooling with a demanding dance schedule, our dedicated dancers commit to an additional three hours of training each day, five days a week. On top of that, they rehearse for at least eight hours weekly, memorizing over 15 full choreographic pieces. All of this culminates in spectacular performances that they present with joy to the Whidbey Island community.
While not every dancer aspires to become a professional, WIDT equips them with the skills and experiences necessary to thrive in the competitive dance industry and beyond. For those choosing different paths, the training they receive prepares them to be top candidates for universities and employers alike.
Providing this level of training and community engagement comes at a significant cost. WIDT operates as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, relying on the generous support of volunteers and donors. We invite you to join us in our mission—consider becoming a sustaining member or making a one-time donation to help us continue offering quality concert dance on Whidbey Island. Your support makes a difference!
Thank you to our Sponsors
A special thank you to the Whidbey Community Foundation, the Washington State Arts Commission, and the Washington Commerce Department's National Grant Recovery Program for helping us to keep quality dance performances alive on Whidbey Island.

These important experiences will inform the lives of our local young dancers in a positive way for the rest of their lives.
